How did you two meet?

Actually through Facebook, Claus added me as a friend (he still claims it was a mistake :-)) but I accepted when I saw we had a lot of mutual friends and thought I must know him, and I also thought he looked quite handsome :-) and then Claus messaged me, and one Messenger message led to another, and yes, then we went on a date and became a couple.

How did he propose to you?

He did it very spontaneously at home. He had secretly been thinking about it and had bought the ring for me – I was very, very surprised; I hadn't seen it coming. It was something about me jokingly saying something like, "Well, we're not married," and then, poof, Claus said, "Well, we can be," :-)

 

Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?

I had actually picked out another Karim dress when I booked an appointment, but Hesam was really good at challenging me a bit and having me try on others, so I could be completely sure that I chose correctly. And this is when he also brought out the one I ended up with. I would never have chosen it myself, as it's form-fitting, and I would have thought I couldn't wear something like that. But since I have a bit of curves both front and back and have hips, I thought it looked wildly beautiful on me, and I love the lace it's made of. The choice was between 2, and then I was asked, if the wedding were right now, which one would you run off in? And then the choice wasn't difficult.

 

Describe your wedding day look

It was classic, simple/natural. I don't usually wear much makeup, so it was also kept very understated and natural - the biggest difference was probably that my long hair was put up.

 

How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?

I felt fantastic in my dress and felt beautiful and very feminine, as my female curves were highlighted.

 

Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, style, and atmosphere of your wedding day.

We got married in what is called Skt. Peders Kapel, which is located right by Præstø Fjord. It's a beautiful small old church, just 3 km from our home. We got married on October 6, 2018, and the weather gods blessed us with the most beautiful sunny weather that day, completely windless and 20 degrees Celsius; we simply couldn't ask for more. The entire style, from table decorations and everything, was kept natural and cozy. We held the reception at a local inn (Fjordkroen) 100 meters from the church, and everything was absolutely fantastic, from start to finish. Due to the amazing weather, we started with a welcome drink on the terrace, where someone was also hired to walk around with a guitar, playing and singing among the guests – it was very atmospheric. We partied until the early morning, stayed overnight at the venue with many of the guests, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast the next day.

 

What was the most challenging part of the planning?

To limit oneself :-)

 

What made your day extra special?

That my father could be there - he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and was declining, but he was there and was so wonderful - he didn't always quite know why there was a party, but he enjoyed himself. And it was very significant for me that both my father and my father-in-law walked me down the aisle - my father wouldn't have been able to manage it alone, so my father-in-law was with him and helped - it brought many tears to my eyes… my friend Rikke was also a huge help the day before and on the wedding day itself, our sweet neighbor had put so much effort into beautifully decorating the church, Claus's one daughter helped decorate the wedding car beautifully, and his other daughter did my makeup, so many things made the day special, and just having all the people you love dearly gathered.

 

The funniest moment of the day was?

That must be the best man's speech - it was simply so hilarious, and the company was almost crying from laughter.

 

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We didn't go on a honeymoon due to work etc., we just took an overnight stay at a lovely hotel in Sweden and had a luxurious time.

 

 

Any final advice or wise words you can share with Karim Design's future brides?

Hmmmm, soak in every second; it's the most amazing thing, and the wedding day itself is over far too quickly. Enjoy your preparations, don't stress over them, make an experience out of dress fittings, that's what I did - very often with lunch afterwards with my friend or mother, depending on who was with me.
