Jeanette & Daniel's wedding
Where did you meet each other?
We both grew up in the same town and have a mutual couple of friends, Daniel has known him for 20 years, and Jeanette has known her for 30 years – So it was Jeanette's friend who played the role of Kirsten the marriage knife.
How did he propose to you?
On my 40th birthday – Daniel had planned a surprise brunch with some of our friends, and our best friends came home with us and continued to enjoy themselves, and it was almost that the proposal went down the drain when they stayed so long. He knew that I wanted it to just be the two of us, and he made it just in time before we were supposed to go out to dinner at a restaurant in the evening.
Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?
Pippa – but it was altered to a high neck, long sleeves & deep back.
Karim was the first place I tried on a dress, and I had a completely different dress in mind, but Hesam brought out Pippa, and I was very surprised at how beautiful it looked on me, also because it was everything I had thought I didn't want.
I came by to try it on 3 times – precisely because it was so different from what I had imagined, I needed to think it through properly, but after the 3rd time, I was completely sure it was the right one, and it was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.
After I had been to several places to try on wedding dresses – Karim Design was clearly the best place – Hesam had so many great ideas and was really patient – which was really nice when you have to make such a big choice. Karim Design gets my highest recommendations.
Describe your wedding day look
I am very simple in my style, so I wore a pair of classic earrings from Julie Sandlau, a pair of beige slingback pumps from Jimmy Choo, simple natural makeup, and my hair up.
How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?
I felt like the best version of myself, and that I couldn't be more beautiful – the dress was absolutely perfect and fantastic to wear – the only disappointing thing is that I won't get to wear it again.
Where did you get married? Tell us about where it took place - and about the style and atmosphere on your wedding day.
Jeanette stayed at Villa Copenhagen, and Daniel at Skt. Petri – the sun was shining, and it was a wonderfully warm and lovely September day.
We were married in Esajas Church on Østerbro, and Jeanette was picked up from Villa Copenhagen in a Volkswagen Beetle by her father & father-in-law.
After the ceremony, we had a reception with wedding cake and bubbles in the church's local.
We held the party at Sonnerupgaard manor (Hvalsø) in their local Laden, which is absolutely fantastic – almost all guests stayed overnight.
Since the weather was so fantastic, we had the opportunity to take the welcome bubbles outside, then we had a completely perfect dinner and party – with a band, bartenders, and a hot dog stand as late-night food.
The day after, breakfast was served in the room.
What was the most challenging part of the planning?
To limit oneself and prioritize what is most important. One can endlessly make choices, and only imagination and finances set the limits.
What made your day extra special?
The weather and that everything was exactly as we had wished and planned. All guests & performances throughout the day made the day extra special. Jeanette's friend sang Perfect by Ed Sheeran in the church, so that was also very special and beautiful.
What was the funniest moment of the day?
It was definitely the fun performance/play done by 5 of our closest friends. The performance was about the first time we were together. We & all our guests cried from laughter.
Where did the honeymoon go?
Unfortunately nowhere due to corona, but otherwise we would have taken a short trip to Paris – just the two of us without kids and then a 4-week long trip to the East with our 2 children.
Any last advice or wise words you can share with Karim Design's upcoming brides?
Do exactly what you want, and don't think about what others think – it's your day. Remember to enjoy it all – the day goes by way too fast.
