Victoria & Enis' Wedding

 

How did you meet? 

We met on Tinder. Later, we met for a drink, which turned into a fun night out. I (Victoria), in my slightly tipsy state, mentioned that I wanted my living room wall painted. The next day, Enis messaged me asking if he should come and help. A couple of months later, he was cat-sitting for me while I was on holiday, and after that, we were never really apart again. So, five months after we first met, Enis moved in with me.

 

How did he propose to you?

He proposed on my birthday (Christmas Eve 2018). It was just us, at home in our apartment. We had planned to have dinner, just the two of us, before going to my (Victoria's) family to celebrate Christmas. Enis gave a very beautiful and heartfelt "speech," and then he got down on one knee. It was absolutely perfect and truly wonderful that it's a memory just for the two of us.

 

Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?

My dress was a combination of several different dresses. Because I liked the neckline on one, the train on another, and the fabric on a third. I wasn't 100% sure it was the right one until I tried it on when it was finished at the tailor's. For my first dress fitting, for good reason, I couldn't try it on because it didn't exist, and at the first fitting after the dress was made, the zipper broke, and there was too much fabric around my hips. This meant that my entire vision for the dress wasn't really there, and it made it difficult to be present. When it had been to the tailor's and I tried it on there, I was incredibly moved. It was exactly as I had imagined it in my head. It gave me a flutter in my stomach, and I became truly emotional at the thought of Enis seeing me in it, because I felt so beautiful.

 

Describe your wedding day look

I wore my beautiful dress. A 3.5-meter long veil with a very beautiful lace edge. I wore hairpins that my grandmother wore when she married my grandfather. I dyed my hair dark as a contrast to the white, had a low bun, and some loose strands around my face. I had originally thought my makeup would be very subtle, but since we got married in Albania (and they don't know subtle wedding makeup), it turned out a bit more dramatic than I had imagined, but still incredibly beautiful.

 

How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?

I felt comfortable; it was pleasant to wear even though it was so long. It fit perfectly, and I felt so beautiful! I completely forgot to change into my after-party dress because I felt so good in my wedding dress.

 

Where did you get married? Tell us about the location, style, and atmosphere of your wedding day. 

We got married in Shkodër, Albania. At a beautiful outdoor restaurant, at the foot of a mountain. Our decorations consisted of many different types of white flowers with small green accents. There were an enormous number of flowers, just as we wanted. The restaurant had decorated with beautiful string lights that were hung up like a kind of ceiling. This allowed us to see both the beautiful sky and, later in the evening, the lovely lights. We danced non-stop, so much that we hardly ate anything, and I had blisters on my feet for two weeks afterward. It was the perfect evening. There was just so much love and joy in the air.

 

 

What was the most challenging aspect of the planning?

The most challenging part was planning a wedding in Albania when we live in Malmö. It was even harder because most of the people who were supposed to do things for our wedding didn't speak English. This meant I had to communicate my wishes to Enis, who then had to translate and pass them on to those who needed to know. This made many things more complicated than they needed to be.

 

What made your day extra special?

It's hard to choose one thing that made the day special. It was a truly wonderful day, and there's nothing I would change. It was very special for me to wear my grandmother's hair ornament. She was supposed to attend the wedding but passed away very suddenly a year before. It was truly special to see my grandfather's face when he saw the pictures, and it meant an enormous amount to me.

 

 The funniest moment of the day was?

During the ceremony, in the middle of a very emotional speech from the bride, a flock of geese started honking. It took some of the air out of the speech, but it was really funny.

 

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We haven't been on a honeymoon. We had a short weekend getaway at Yasuragi in Stockholm. We also received gift cards for Ystad Saltsjöbad, and in April, we're going on a trip to Amsterdam. But it probably won't be a classic honeymoon because we have a 2-year-old daughter whom we always want to bring when we travel, as we truly love our travel memories with her.

 

Any final advice or wise words you'd like to share with Karim Design's future brides? 

There will always be something that goes wrong on the day. It's unavoidable. The most important thing is to have fun and celebrate your love. Dance until it hurts, smile until your cheeks can't anymore. Go with the flow. It will be the best day! Remember extra shoes that are still beautiful!
