Julie & Niclas' wedding
Where did you meet each other?
·Our story actually goes way back, as our first meeting was in 7th grade, when Niclas started in my class. We both started to take a liking to each other in the last period of elementary school, and on the last day of school in 9th grade, we kissed for the first time and shortly after became a couple and have been together ever since.

How did he propose to you?
·Niclas proposed to me on the morning of Christmas Eve 2021 at my mother's home in Aalborg (we live in Copenhagen and were therefore home for Christmas). My birthday is on December 24th, so he camouflaged the proposal by telling me that his gift was too big to bring into the birthday table, and that I had to go with him out to the balcony to see it. In that moment, I was convinced that he had bought a Christiania bike, which I had long wanted. And even though the thought of starting 2022 by zooming around on a Christiania bike made me happy, I was also annoyed that he had bought such an expensive gift, now that we had agreed on a gift budget, and I found it hard to see how we would get the large bike transported back to Copenhagen… Therefore, it completely took me by surprise when I realized that the surprise was not a Christiania bike, but instead a proposal. It was undoubtedly the best birthday I have ever had. His birthday gift to me was instead a lamp, which fortunately was within budget ;).

Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?
In fact, I had two wedding dresses - both from Karim. My "main wedding dress" was Gianna (slightly altered to be exactly as I wanted), while I changed into a more "Gatsby-inspired" wedding dress with pearls before the first dance.

Describe your wedding day look:
Timeless and sophisticated.
How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?
·I felt very comfortable. I felt like it was me wearing the dress and not the other way around.
Where did you get married? Tell us about where it took place, the style, and the atmosphere on your wedding day.
·Niclas and I got married at the beautiful renæssanceslot Holckenhavn Slot in Nyborg on Funen. Since we got married at the end of May, the trees had just blossomed, and the romantic castle was therefore dressed in the most beautiful light green colors. Additionally, we had the weather gods on our side, as there was a blue sky, sun, and 19 degrees. The physical setting created a romantic and fairytale atmosphere, just as the castle's cozy charm and fantastic staff made both us and our guests feel extremely comfortable from start to finish.

What was the most challenging part of the planning?
Although planning a wedding is overall a fun thing that reminds you of all the things you can look forward to, it can also be a bit stressful at times. I think the most challenging part of the planning itself was all the "small" things that may not be obvious: For example, how much information to include in an invitation, what is the best possible schedule for the day, how many rose petals should we buy. Fortunately, we had our skilled wedding coordinator Anne-Kristine from Holckenhavn Slot to help us with the big picture, which definitely made the process easier than if we had to handle it all ourselves.
What made your day extra special?
Our amazing guests. Their energy, good mood, and fantastic speeches made the day the best day ever.
What was the funniest moment of the day?
My brother's speech, which was almost like a stand-up show.
Where did the honeymoon go?
We were in Bali. A destination neither of us had visited before.

Any last advice or wise words you can share with Karim Design's upcoming brides?
Remember to remind yourself and your partner to enjoy it. Not just the day but also the entire planning process. It's a big deal to get married, and therefore both the process leading up to the big day and the wedding day itself should be something you truly enjoy. Of course, it can be frustrating if the wedding budget keeps slipping, if suppliers cancel at the last minute (we experienced this with our DJ, but fortunately, the fantastic DJ Lee came to our rescue), or if your seating plan just won't work out... It's just important that the small bumps along the way don't take up too much space, as a wedding and all the planning behind it is a fantastic experience that you should be able to look back on with great joy for the rest of your life.
