Where did you meet each other?

We met among mutual friends.

Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?

When I started my search for the perfect wedding dress, I had a very clear picture of what I was looking for. Still, I ended up with something completely different.

When I first visited Karim Design to try on wedding dresses, I was encouraged to try some different types of dresses, and it made me much wiser about what suited me and what felt nice to wear. As soon as I stepped into the dress that I ended up choosing as my wedding dress, I was sold. It gave me a feeling that the other dresses hadn’t – even though it was completely different from what I had imagined at home.

In the weeks that followed, I could sometimes doubt whether it was really the dress. The doubt probably arose because I thought it was an incredibly important choice, and I needed to be completely sure I wouldn’t regret it. Therefore, I went out and tried other dresses, but I also visited Karim Design several times to try the dress again. With each time I wore the dress Alessa on, I became more and more confident in my decision.

How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?

I could really feel that the dress was tailored to my specific measurements. Despite being completely strapless, it fit exactly as it should throughout the entire day and night. One must really not underestimate the value of having a custom-made wedding dress. Karim Design adjusted my dress several times leading up to the wedding, and it meant everything for how it felt to wear on the actual day. It fit me perfectly.

Where did you get married? Tell us about where it took place - and about the style and atmosphere on your wedding day.

We got married in Italy. We had a dream that by moving the guests from Denmark, we could create an extra special atmosphere, and it certainly succeeded. The guests arrived on Friday at a small hotel by the water, where they could check in, enjoy a few cold drinks, and take a dip under the warm Italian summer sun. It was all very casual and cozy, without any real program. The goal was to get our guests into a kind of holiday mood.

On the actual wedding day on Saturday, we started with the ceremony in an old Italian church. The church, which was located in the middle of a beautiful Italian forest with a view of the water, was rustic, small, and full of history. We extended the church floor outdoors with a white runner, which all our guests stood along when I arrived with my father to the sound of 'here comes the bride' played live by two musicians.

After the ceremony, the live musicians played a series of our favorite songs while rice was thrown, champagne was served, and we were congratulated. I could experience that moment again and again.

After the ceremony, we sent our guests on a boat trip with lunch while we took wedding photos. A couple of hours later, we all gathered again. We had rented a beautiful, old Italian villa, where we stayed with our closest family, and it was also here that the wedding party would be held.

We started in one of the gardens, and surrounded by olive and lemon trees, we were served wedding cake, champagne, and drinks. We chose to have the wedding cake in the afternoon, along with garden games and live music from the Danish DJ we had brought to Italy.

After a few hours, we sent the guests back to the hotel to relax a bit. Several jumped into the water to cool off after a warm day under the Italian sun.

As the sun began to set, we invited the guests back into the villa. On one of the terraces, a wedding dinner was now set up. We love Italian food and dreamed of something other than the traditional wedding menu. Therefore, classic Italian dishes were served, as only the Italians can make them.

After a delicious dinner and a lot of both loving and funny contributions, we danced the bridal waltz on the villa's upper terrace, under the stars, before the DJ turned up the music and played until the sun rose again.

On Sunday morning, most were suffering from hangovers, but a dip in the water followed by a joint brunch got most of them back on their feet. We spent the afternoon opening gifts and relaxing with our guests before they headed back to the airport and back to Denmark. We started the car and drove off on our honeymoon in the Italian vineyards.

What was the most challenging part of the planning?

That we held the wedding in Italy. Our minimalist Nordic style is hard to explain to an Italian wedding planner, so we chose to arrange everything ourselves. We visited the villa a year before the wedding, but otherwise, we used Google to find the suppliers we needed. In the end, it was just a matter of crossing our fingers that the agreements we had made would also be fulfilled, and that everyone would show up. Fortunately, they did.

What made your day extra special?

I believe that a wedding will always be something very special, but there is no doubt that the surroundings we had in Italy could never match anything we could have found in Denmark. At the same time, we experienced that our guests came closer to each other, even those who did not know each other beforehand. It creates a special atmosphere and a special bond between the guests when you move them abroad.

The funniest moment of the day was?

It is hard to choose one. The moment I would most like to experience again was just as we came out of the church, the music was playing, and everyone had champagne in their glasses. The atmosphere, the surroundings, and the love. It was truly special.

Where did the honeymoon go?

We enjoyed four days in Italy right after the wedding, and waited with the actual honeymoon until the cold Danish winter, when we traveled for a month on a road trip through Panama and Costa Rica.
