Kristine-Louise & Andreas' wedding

Where did you meet each other?
We met when we were 14 and 15 years old at Andreas' after-school center at Ordrup School, where I was going to meet my friend's friends for the first time. There sat Andreas with the sweetest eyes, and we both knew that it was love at first sight (cliché, but it actually was..).
How did he propose to you?
I had a real "sister day" with my little sister Anne-Marie with training in the morning, sauna, shopping, manicure, and lunch. We were then going to Restaurant Silo to have drinks on their newly opened rooftop terrace, and we were accompanied in the elevator by a sweet man from there. On the rooftop terrace, there was a red carpet laid out, but it was completely dead and quiet, so I understood nothing, but instead thought that we were the only ones at the restaurant. We walked a little along the terrace floor and around a corner. And then I got a huge shock. There stood a lot of people, and I thought I had stepped right into a party – really embarrassing. But I could recognize a couple of faces as well as Andreas, who stood alone in the middle in his finest suit with a large bouquet of light pink peonies (my favorite flower). A lot of friends and family had gathered, and I knew right away what was going to happen. Andreas tried to get a few words out, went down on one knee, and I burst into tears. And the whole "sister day" was of course Andreas' idea.
Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?
Together with my mother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend, I had traveled all over the country (and Sweden) to find the right dress. I had saved Karim for last, because there you could have your own made if I couldn't find a finished product – and I didn't find one.
When I got the most beautiful white, form-fitting sequin dress with a train and stood on the podium, I just knew it. That thing about getting a certain gut feeling when it's the right dress? It's 100% true. And my mother could see it in my smile that the dress was the one. And then the staff started with good suggestions for alterations, etc. for the dress Silvia. A boat neckline was made, the dress was taken in, and it got the right length.

Describe your wedding day look
My idea for the wedding look was: "Princess." But a modern one. It was striking without being too crazy, it was elegant and beautiful, I had a tiara in my updo with an elegant and simple veil, as well as very simple jewelry and discreet light shoes on.
How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?
I felt like a princess. I really did. The fabric of the dress was a bit stretchy, so it was surprisingly nice to wear all day, even for dinner. I felt nothing less than a dream.

Where did you get married? Tell us about where it took place - and about the style and atmosphere on your wedding day.
We were married in Vor Frue Church in Copenhagen, were driven in a beautiful Cadillac to Charlottenlund Forest to take pictures, and then the party was held at Restaurant Charlottenlund Fort with a view of the sea – a place we have both visited often throughout our lives.
The guests arrived a little before us for welcome drinks, where we had hired a sweet girl to play the cello out on the restaurant's terrace. My feeling was that everyone was really having fun and enjoying themselves, so despite our formal style with dress code, long dresses, and beautifully set tables, the atmosphere was still quite informal. Our friends really know how to party, so many of us were sweating from dancing, delicious drinks, and good company.

What was the most challenging part of the planning?
Like many other brides, it was primarily me who handled all the planning. And I loved it. So much so that after the wedding, I considered whether I should come out as a wedding planner. I don't really remember anything being particularly challenging, but if I had to point to something, it was probably my own impatience and others' lack of the same.
What made your day extra special?
My bridesmaids and I stayed the night before the wedding at Hotel Phoenix in Copenhagen. We had a lovely afternoon and evening with champagne, nail polish, and fun conversations, and it was really special to wake up alone in the huge bed in the morning with butterflies in my stomach. I can really recommend it.
Additionally, my siblings had arranged an insane fireworks show for the wedding cake, which was served on the terrace, as the icing on the cake for the party. It was incredibly romantic.
What was the funniest moment of the day?
The whole day and evening were so perfect that it's hard to pinpoint what was the most fun. But it was a bit extra amusing to have wedding photos taken – both alone and with our bridesmaids and groomsmen. Our photographer was so good at making it both beautiful, cozy, awkward, and really fun.

Where did the honeymoon go?
The honeymoon went to Vietnam. We had booked a cabin with a view of the water and relaxed to the max with good food and lovely drinks. However, we both got sick the first week, and Andreas even had to go to the hospital. We also had a stay at a luxury hotel in Saigon, where the romantic atmosphere was turned up.
Any last advice or wise words you can share with Karim Design's upcoming brides?
Go for it. Spend a little extra. It only happens once :-)
