Where did you meet each other?

On Tinder. I was visiting a friend who was working in Stavanger at the time, and there I matched with Knut. Since the visit was short, we agreed to meet a couple of days later for a cup of coffee in Stavanger City Center. And since that cup of coffee, we have been together.

How did he propose to you?

We had just come home from a weekend in London in December. It had started to snow in Stavanger, where we lived. So when Knut came home from work on Monday, we drove out to buy a Christmas tree. After the Christmas tree was decorated with all the beautiful ornaments we had bought in London, we took a walk in the snow. When we got home, he proposed in front of the Christmas tree. I should mention that December was my absolute favorite month before the proposal, and it certainly hasn't changed after the proposal.

Which Karim Design dress did you choose and how did you know it was the right wedding dress?

Leonora (I think that was its name). I have lived in Nyboder for 5 years, and every morning when I cycled to school, I looked at the beautiful wedding dresses at Karim’s design. I promised myself that if I ever got married, my wedding dress would be bought there.

I had looked at the selection before I went into the store and had actually decided on the Leonora dress. But when I came in, I didn't say anything about it and just asked him to find the dresses he thought would suit me. The Leonora dress was the second dress he found for me. I was allowed to try on five different ones, but I had no doubt that the Leonora dress, with a few changes, was my dress. I wanted a simple yet elegant look, and I definitely felt that the Feline dress gave me that. I had the bling removed from the back opening, shortened the train (as I had a clear intention of dancing all night in that dress), and had a belt sewn at the waist. The dress was absolutely perfect. It made me feel so beautiful.

Describe your wedding day look

Because the dress was so simple, I could go all out with other things. So I had a long veil with lace all around and yellow stilettos. My hair was styled in a bun at the nape of my neck, and my makeup was very neutral and simple.

How did you feel in your dress on your wedding day?

I was a bit nervous that it would just be another nice dress for me, as I have been to balls a few times due to my education, where it was with very nice and long dresses. But the wedding dress did what it was supposed to do. It was the dress that made me feel 1000 times prettier than I have ever felt before. And I felt so comfortable in it because it was lovely to wear and didn't constrict me in all sorts of places. I felt BEAUTIFUL.

Where did you get married? Tell us about where it took place - and about the style and atmosphere on your wedding day.

We got married in Dannemare Church on Lolland. I was baptized and confirmed in that church. Since I work in the navy, we had one of the priests from the navy officiate our wedding in Dannemare church, and it was absolutely perfect. It was important for us that the day wasn't too fancy, but rather had a relaxed atmosphere where people could relax and have a party. When the guests and Knut arrived at the church, I arrived with my father. After the ceremony, we drove out to the beach and took pictures before we continued to Mejerigaarden near Gedser, where the reception and party were to be held. Mejerigaarden is an old horse stable that has been converted and provided the perfect atmosphere for the day. The weather was on our side in September, and we had such good weather that people could sit outside on the terrace during the reception. After dinner, people let loose, and the last ones (including us) went to bed around 6 in the morning. The next day, we met for brunch with our guests.

What was the most challenging part of the planning?

That the families came from two different countries (Norway and Denmark). The party was held out in the countryside, and therefore it required quite a bit of coordination regarding accommodation for all the guests (hurray for excel sheets).

What made your day extra special?

Our guests without a doubt. My husband and I often sat during dinner and enjoyed the sight of so many wonderful people wanting to celebrate the day with us. We set the framework for the party, but it was absolutely our guests' credit that we look back on the day as the best day ever. We are so happy for every minute of the entire day and wouldn't change a thing.

The funniest moment of the day was?

When the sailors gave their speech and one of them sang a shanty in the middle of the night and all the guests joined in. Everyone should have sailors at their wedding!!!

Where did the honeymoon go?

Sri Lanka and the Maldives

Any last advice or wise words you can share with Karim Design's future brides?

When the day comes, trust that the planning is in place and that everything will work out. Relax and lean back and enjoy the day to the fullest. I decided that when I woke up on the day, I couldn't do anything more; I had done everything I could to plan the day we dreamed of. But on the day, it was up to the location and the guests to create the party, and they delivered fully.
